How to deal with the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law?

I went to my boyfriend's home last weekend. Surely, I saw his mother and father again this time. His father is very kind and mild, but his mother is somewhat severe. Hence, I tried my best to communicate with her and to please her.I just don't want my boyfriend to meet a dilemma. Hope I can have a good relationship with his mother in the future.
